International Student Travel Pass eligibility

To be eligible for a unique International Student Travel Pass code entitling the student to purchase a 365-day International Student Travel Pass myki card, a student must be:

• An international student (including a New Zealand Citizen).
• Enrolled in all available compulsory semesters* and studying on a full-time basis towards one of the following qualifications:
• Diploma
• Advanced Diploma
• Associate Degree
• Bachelor Degree
• Have at least one full year/two semesters of study remaining in the eligible course (i.e be eligible for the majority of the duration of the International Student Travel Pass)

Under the terms of the scheme, VU is required to also have a photo record of all students who are issued with a code to obtain an International Student Travel Pass. The photo retained on VU Connect when a student is issued a student ID will be used for this purpose. If the student does not have a photo in VU Connect, they will be required to provide this before being issued a code.

You are not eligible if you are enrolled in a:

• Part-time course
• ELICOS or English Language course
• Certificate I – Certificate IV course
• Graduate Certificate
• Graduate Diploma
• Master Degree
• Doctoral Degree
• Student exchange program

Students in packaged, pathways or sequenced courses are only eligible for the period they are enrolled, in line with the above eligibility criteria. Students are not eligible if they are studying less than full-time in any of the eligible qualifications.

For the purposes of eligibility for this scheme, VU defines a full-time load as:

• Vocational education (TAFE) International students must be enrolled in a minimum of 540 contact hours for the year or 270 contact hours for Semester 2.
• Higher education international students must be enrolled in 96 credit points for the year, or 48 credit points for Semester 2.

*Students must be enrolled in a full-time load in all available, compulsory semesters (i.e Semesters 1 and 2). Where a student applies after Semester 1, they will only be assessed based on their Semester 2 enrolments but they must also have at least one further semester of study remaining in the duration of their course beyond Semester 2.
