Bas Statement Download

There are limited ways to obtain a download of your activity statement form.

Under the ATO’s BAS lodgment system, personalised BAS data is generated for each business containing registration status, your specific payment cycle, the due date for lodgment and a unique identification number.

Beware of scam emails claiming to be from the Tax Office with a downloadable BAS form, because the ATO does not distribute activity statements that way.

How to access your BAS Form:

  1. If you are not registered for electronic lodgment, the ATO send you the paper form, around a month before it is due – or if you request a replacement by calling 13 28 66
  2. If your business is registered to lodge electronically, you will receive an email reminder several weeks before it is due, to log on to the Business Portal from where the BAS form can be filled and lodged
  3. Alternatively, as a sole trader or individual you can setup access at my.Gov.au, from where you can fill and lodge activity statements. Reminders are sent to the myGov inbox.
  4. If you are using an SBR enabled accounting software system, the BAS form-filling and lodgment functions may be included. Examples of software that offer this functionality include MYOB, Xero and Quickbooks.
  5. A registered agent (Tax or BAS Agent) can lodge electronically on your behalf.

Paper activity statements from 1 July 2014 phasing out

For some years the Tax Office has been urging businesses to adopt electronic methods of activity statement lodgment. From 1 July 2014 paper activity statements are no longer sent, once an activity statement has been lodged electronically.

An ‘automatic’ 2 week lodgment extension is available to electronic lodgers.

myGov: Since 22 August 2015 the Tax Office has adopted the practice of delivering activity statements to sole traders and individuals that are linked to myGov to their my.Gov.au inbox.
